The term “Ayahuasca” denotes a tea-like brew used by shamans in the jungle of Amazon-basin countries such as Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Brasil to enter an altered mental state. The brew is made from the ayahuasca Ceremonies (Banisteriopsis caapi) vine, in combination with another plant called chacruna (Psychotria viridis).
While experts debate details of the chemistry, essentially the chacruna is the main DMT source with the Banisteriopsis caapi acting as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) — in other words, Ayahuasca allows DMT to enter the bloodstream without being destroyed by stomach chemicals, as would otherwise occur. DMT is a chemical that occurs naturally in the brain and is associated with dreaming and the visions that accompany near-death experiences (NDEs). (DMT is present in almost all plants and animals.) Historically it has been used for a variety of reasons such as to diagnose patients with medical disorders, locate lost items, find the best hunting or fishing grounds, or resolve personal disputes. Traditionally, an ill person would see the village shaman. The shaman would drink the Ayahuasca brew and then diagnose the patient, with the plant spirit directing them to the correct plants and course of treatment for healing. Today only a trained shaman may drink Ayahuasca on their own.
This is because Ayahuasca is not a recreational drug and must be approached with reverence and
even some rational trepidation.

Amazon Wildlife Adventures wants you to enjoy your jungle trips in Peru to the fullest , so we recommend that you carefully read and obey the instructions before your reserve
• To make a reservation you must deposit a minimum of 20% of the total sale
• If you cancel the reservation, it must be within 48 hours before the arrival date. This process has a retention penalty of 20% of the total deposit. Outside this period, everything deposited is retained.
• If you make any changes to your flight itinerary, you must notify us in advance, otherwise we are not responsible and you must assume your own reception and transfer costs.
• All payments from abroad, have a 5% surcharge for International Transfer Tax
• All the food indicated in your itinerary is provided in the jungle. If you are allergic to any meat or if you are vegetarian, you must indicate it in the contract. Soft drinks and juices are not included in lunch and dinner.
• If you wish to leave the tour before the end of the contracted days, it will be under your responsibility and assuming your own river and land expenses (along with those of the guide).
• If you are a conflictive, negative, disrespectful and uncomfortable person to the other participants, you will be removed from the accommodation without the right to anything.
• The tours are guided in Spanish, if you wish to be guided in English you must indicate in this contract
• Tips are not included in payments, if you wish to do so, you do so of your own free will
• You should not make any extra payment, if required by the guide, you must communicate
• If you are a person with racist, classist attitudes, etc., and/or offend the guide, assistant or person part of the company staff, the tour will be terminated without any right to claim or refund.
• The company is not responsible for the loss of money or objects fallen into the river or forgotten in the farmers' house or at the campsite.
