During the survival trip in the jungle, you can find a variety of natural resources, including larvae and insects, which are often rich in protein and can be a vital food source. Here’s a brief overview of what you might encounter:
Edible insects and Plants
- Beetle Larvae (like grubs): Found in rotting wood or under tree bark, they are nutrient-rich and a common food source in survival situations.
- Ants and Termites: These can be eaten raw or roasted and are often easy to find near trees or nests
- Fruits and Nuts: Certain wild fruits, like papayas or palm nuts, may be safe to eat if you recognize them.

Tour Plan
You will be transferred from the hotel to Puerto Lao Port at 08:00 am. We will then take a speedboat to reach to Tamshiyacu. Our next stop is the village of Chino on the other side of the river tahuayo. The entire boat ride takes about 5 hours aprox. The last part of the journey is by local boat for about 2 hours reaching the main base around 2 pm, where lunch will be served.
You will set up the camp and tents for the night. Dinner will be prepared on the fireside.
At 05:30 am we’ll take a canoe trip to watch the sunrise and get a close-up view of the forest waking up to a new day. At 07:00 am, breakfast is served, and then at 08:00 am we’ll take a walk through the jungle until 11:30 am. During the walk, the guide will explain valuable information about the flora and the fauna of the Amazon Rainforest. There is much to be learned about medicinal plants, spiders, and trees, and sometimes there is a chance to spot some monkeys.
The afternoon activity starts at 3 pm with canoeing in the flooded forest and the small channels. It is a great opportunity to spot some of the local Amazonian wildlife. Afterwards, we head back to camp to prepare dinner. After dinner, the group leaves by boat to do the spot Cayman. The guide will catch one by hand, and you will have the opportunity to learn more about this prehistoric animal that makes its home in the Amazon river. Then it’s back to camp for the night.
From 08:00 am to 11:00 am, we will take a hike through the jungle, exploring more of the Amazon and learning what can be used to survive, like fruits and plants. We will also learn about creatures found in the jungle. Back to camp to prepare lunch on the fireside.
In the afternoon, you will leave by boat to another spot to set up a new camp in time to go fishing for some piranhas and other species of fish. You will then return to camp and prepare them for dinner.
After dinner, the group will leave by boat to explore the small channels of the Amazon, looking out for some wildlife that can be found at night in that region using a spotlight. Then we return to camp to rest from the day’s activities.
Wake up refreshed at the beautiful Tahuayo River. After, you will explore the surrounding area with your guide or choose to relax and spend your time at your leisure. At night, you will cook food and camp near the river.
After breakfast, you will pack your bags and begin your hike to Yarina Lake, enjoying a 3-hour hike and tour through the Amazon jungle. On this hike, you will see various types of monkeys, birds, snakes, and various other local creatures. Along the way, your guide will show you how to locate drinkable water in native vines. In addition, your guide will locate and describe many medicinal plants and their uses.
Breakfast is served, and then it’s time to explore the Várzea area of the Amazon. From September to March, this trip is done on foot, and at other times of the year, it will be taken by boat. This region is a great place to spot some wildlife such as birds, monkeys, and other animals that live in this ecosystem. Afterwards, we return to Tamshiyacu and then Iquitos. Arriving to Iquitos at 5:00 pm.

• To make a reservation you must deposit a minimum of 20% of the total sale
• If you cancel the reservation, it must be within 48 hours before the arrival date. This process has a retention penalty of 20% of the total deposit. Outside this period, everything deposited is retained.
• If you make any changes to your flight itinerary, you must notify us in advance, otherwise we are not responsible and you must assume your own reception and transfer costs.
• All payments from abroad, have a 5% surcharge for International Transfer Tax
• All the food indicated in your itinerary is provided in the jungle. If you are allergic to any meat or if you are vegetarian, you must indicate it in the contract. Soft drinks and juices are not included in lunch and dinner.
• If you wish to leave the tour before the end of the contracted days, it will be under your responsibility and assuming your own river and land expenses (along with those of the guide) and there´s no refund of Half and all Entire tour
• If you are a conflictive, negative, disrespectful and uncomfortable person to the other participants, you will be removed from the accommodation without the right to anything.
• The tours are guided in Spanish, if you wish to be guided in English you must indicate in this contract
• Tips are not included in payments, if you wish to do so, you do so of your own free will
• You should not make any extra payment, if required by the guide, you must communicate
• If you are a person with racist, classist attitudes, etc., and/or offend the guide, assistant or person part of the company staff, the tour will be terminated without any right to claim or refund.
• The company is not responsible for the loss of money or objects fallen into the river or forgotten in the farmers' house or at the campsite.
