As we head there we will give you a brief description of Iquitos, its surroundings and its main attractions.
Depart by private boat from the port of Nauta , continuing upriver for 3 hours, enjoying the beautiful landscapes and the possibility of observing river dolphins (gray and pink), herons and turtles, among other species.
our entry point to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve . Here we will obtain our entry permit. The entrance to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is controlled and regulated by SERNANP (National Service of Protected Natural Areas).
We will continue sailing by boat for 30 minutes until we reach the community of Buenos Aires . During our journey we will observe flora and fauna on the banks of the river. You can see birds, especially herons and marine fishermen.
Jungle hike through the primary jungle. We will enjoy nature in search of wildlife.
Night walk in search of spiders, snakes, lizards, frogs and rodents, listening to the different sounds of the nocturnal animals that inhabit the jungle.
Accommodation in a typical home in the community of Buenos Aires
We will wake up early to watch the sunrise and then begin a morning expedition. We will go in search of monkeys and sloths. We will explore the banks of the river by canoe, always attentive to the movements and sounds of the jungle, in order to observe wildlife during their morning rituals.
Boat navigation on the Yanayacu River for approx. 3 hours, going deeper and deeper into the depths of the Amazon jungle We will arrive at a place called Renaco by the local population where we will establish our camp.
Walk through the jungle to observe the Amazonian flora and fauna.

After walking in the Amazon jungle you will have the opportunity to swim in the Yanayacu River and observe pink dolphins (Inia geoffrensis) and gray dolphins or tucuxis.
We will wake up early in the morning and begin our search for primates while exploring by canoe. There is the possibility, with a little luck, of observing a very particular species in this area: The manatee (also called sea cow).
We will collect our camping equipment and prepare to continue towards the depths of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. We will sail approximately 3 hours to our next destination: Zapotal, named by the inhabitants of the National Reserve due to the large number of Zapotes (a species of tree that produces a sweet fruit) in this area.
Expedition in search of primates and other animals to observe them in their habitat. The further we go into the Amazon rainforest, the more chances we have of observing wildlife.
In the surroundings of Zapotal it is possible to find the Paiche (Arapaima gigas), the largest fish in the Amazon jungle. If the river is low, the possibility of observing the Paiche is greater.
Walk in search of Macaws . We will venture in search of the Red and Green Macaws (Ara chloroptera) and the Blue and Yellow Macaws (Ara ararauna). In the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve we can find 2 of the 8 species of Macaws present in Peru. On this walk we will also be attentive, in search of the Camungo (Horned screamer), with its characteristic sound, and the Shansho.
Observation of the sunset , enjoying the beautiful Amazonian landscapes, relaxing and immersing ourselves in the moment.
Night expedition observing (and listening) carefully in search of nocturnal animals, including alligators, frogs, snakes, among others.
Camping in the primary jungle. We will sleep in tents.

We will travel by boat approx. 3 hours going deeper into the Amazon jungle. We will advance to our next camping site in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Chingana . The deeper into the Amazon rainforest, the greater the chances of observing different species of animals, birds and fish.
Excursion to observe the giant river otter.
Botanical walk . You will learn about different Amazonian medicinal plants.
Night canoe excursion in search of wildlife.
Canoe expedition in search of black and white alligators . When sailing in remote areas, in the depths of the National Reserve there is a high possibility of observing larger caimans (up to 6 to 8 meters in length). We will also look for other nocturnal animals, insects and spiders.
Morning exploration by canoe , in search of wildlife, especially different species of monkeys such as the howler monkey or the woolly monkey.
After enjoying our walk in the Amazon jungle we will pack up, clean up and begin navigation to deeper areas of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. We will sail for 1-2 hours and arrive at a place called Tambo German by the people who inhabit the National Reserve.
We will establish our new camping site .
We will take a long walk in the depths of the Amazon jungle . Get ready to explore the primary jungle. During this walk we will be attentive in our search for animals, as well as Amazonian medicinal plants such as Uña de gato (Cat's claw), Ajosacha (Jungle's garlic), among others. Our
guide will explain to us about the different medicinal plants and what they are for. A good opportunity to learn about natural Amazonian medicine.
We will carry out an expedition in search of animal tracks , such as the Jaguar (Otorongo), Tapir (Sachavaca), Red brocket deer, Majaz (Paca agouti paca), among other animals of the Amazon jungle.
There is the possibility of observing anacondas and Tigrillos (Ocelot) in these areas of the Pacaya Samiria Reserve.

We will awaken our senses with a morning canoe excursion . Already accustomed to the rhythm of the Amazon jungle, we will put into practice the skills we have learned during our expedition. We will try to differentiate animals and different types of Amazonian birds by their sounds. We will look for them with the first rays of the sun.
Morning walk in the jungle in search of monkeys and other animals. In this place there is usually a greater concentration of monkeys than near the perimeter of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, since not many people come to this place in the depths of the jungle.
We will take a boat excursion to test our skills with artisanal piranha fishing , the way local people do it. The guide will give you instructions and all the necessary equipment. If you have skill (and luck) you can even fish for Acarahuazu (Oscar fish), Fasaco (Common trahira), among others.
At noon we will begin our return . Because we are in the depths of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve it will take us more than 1 day to return. It is for this reason that we will navigate for approximately 4 hours following the current, downstream, until we reach a halfway point on our route where we will establish our last camping site.
We will arrive in the afternoon to Soledad , a place named by the locals in honor of a man who lived in this place, with no company other than nature and the animals that surrounded him.
We will awaken our senses with a morning canoe excursion .
Bird watching . Early morning is the best time to observe birds and animals on the banks of the river and in the jungle.
We will take our last walk in the jungle in search of wildlife.
We will begin our return, stopping at PV1 (Surveillance Point 1), located in Santo Domingo to stretch our legs and contribute to the community, if you wish, by purchasing their handmade crafts.
