Fishing trips in the Peruvian Amazon Iquitos

The cochas (lakes) drainage features extensive stretches of igapo forest (black water flood from March through May), including numerous oxbow lakes (cochas). There are large areas of terra firme forest, as well. This solid ground features low, steep hills and ridges which are separated by small valleys and gullies with running, clear water streams. You will learn how to catch fishes, our spear fishing techniques in the amazon with local natives
The cochas along the tributaries are especially suited to Peacock Bass and they support good populations of this beautiful sporting fish. These are aggressive feeders and great fighting fish, just like their North American cousins. Fishing for these will add even more excitement to your adventures.
We ask that you bring your own fishing tackles for this excursion, as we do not supply tackle during your trips here. Medium weight spinning, bait casting, or fly fishing tackle should work well. Generally, much the same tackle as you would use for Largemouth Bass in North America, is what you want. Your guide will be able to advise you in this regard.
